Effective July 22, 2026. Last updated July 22, 2026.
We build this site to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers and keyboard navigation. This statement explains the standard we follow, what we have done, where the limits are, and how to reach us if something does not work for you.
Serve First Realty Inc. is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology. Accessibility is not an afterthought here. It is part of how this site was built, and it reflects a commitment we take personally.
1. The standard we aim for
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. These guidelines are the widely accepted benchmark for accessible web content and are the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and by California law, including the Unruh Civil Rights Act.
2. What we have done
Accessibility features built into this site include:
- Semantic structure. Every page uses proper HTML landmarks and a single, correct heading hierarchy, so screen reader users can navigate by heading and region rather than reading linearly.
- Skip navigation. A skip link at the top of each page lets keyboard and screen reader users jump straight to the main content.
- Keyboard operability. All interactive elements, including our calculators, can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. No feature requires a mouse.
- Visible focus. Every focusable element shows a clear gold focus outline, so keyboard users can always see where they are.
- Labeled form fields. Every input in our forms and calculators has a programmatically associated label, and helper text is linked to its field so assistive technology announces it.
- Announced results. Calculator results appear in live regions, so screen readers announce the outcome when it updates rather than leaving it silent on screen.
- Color contrast. Text and interface colors are chosen to meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios, and we do not rely on color alone to convey meaning.
- Responsive, zoomable layout. Content reflows for small screens and remains usable when zoomed or when text is enlarged.
- Descriptive links. Link text describes its destination rather than saying "click here," which matters when navigating by link list.
- Plain language. We write in clear, direct language and explain technical real estate terms when we use them.
3. How we test
This site is checked with screen reader software, including JAWS on Windows and VoiceOver on Apple devices, and is tested for keyboard-only operation. We validate page structure programmatically, including confirming that each page has exactly one main heading, that headings nest correctly, and that form controls have associated labels. Accessibility checks are part of our build process rather than a one-time review.
4. Limitations we want to be honest about
We aim for full conformance, and we also want to be straightforward about the boundaries of what we control:
- Third-party content. Some parts of this site may include content or tools provided by third parties, such as property search functionality, mapping, or embedded media. We do not control the code of those services, and their accessibility may fall short of our own standard. Where that happens, we will help you get the same information another way. Just ask.
- Documents. Some linked documents, particularly forms and disclosures published by government agencies or industry bodies, are outside our control and may not be fully accessible. We will provide the content in an accessible format on request.
- Ongoing work. A site of this size is continually updated. If something slips through, we want to know about it and we will fix it.
5. Getting help another way
If any part of this website is difficult for you to use, you do not have to work around it. We will provide the same information and the same service through whatever channel works for you, including by telephone, by email, in an alternative document format, or in person. There is no charge for this, and it will not affect the service you receive.
6. Tell us about a problem
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this site. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us and include:
- The page address where you ran into the problem
- A description of what happened
- The browser, device, and assistive technology you were using, if you know
You can reach us through our Contact page. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and to resolve issues as quickly as we reasonably can. If a fix will take time, we will tell you what we are doing and make sure you get the information you need in the meantime.
7. If we do not resolve it
If you contact us about an accessibility barrier and are not satisfied with our response, you may wish to consult the resources of the United States Department of Justice regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act, or the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing regarding California accessibility requirements. We would much rather hear from you directly first, so we can fix the problem.
